MAINTENANCE

Your Reverso is a high performance / high quality craft.
With these professionnal guidelines and tips, you will be able to maintain it in perfect condition.

Hull maintenance

Wether they are dinghies or sport catamarans, 100% watertight boats don't exist.

You will be surprised by the amount of water a leaky hatch ring can let in, particularly when you consider your body weight moving around on the cockpit forcing air in and out of any leak points

That is the reason why every Reverso is equipped with a Gore® automatic vent system and comes with 4 inspection hatches.

We recommend to open the inspection hatches to ventilate the hull after each sailing session and check for remaining water. using a big sponge in order to dry off your boat section.

If you feel there is too much water coming in, it can be fixed easily.

Indeed, the Hull material : honeycomb sandwich sandwich  + Gelcoat is non porous, so a leak can come only from three spots.

if you find an amount of water you that you find abnormal (>2 coca cola cans) - anything below this qty is normal on performance crafts that generate speed and pressure.

1 Check that the hatch was tightly closed

2 Turn around the boat section to see where trapped water escapes

Unfold the boat first if you notice a leak, go to step #B1
Use the soft pad for gentle contact between hull and ground

3 if you see no water draining : dry the boat and spray water on the hatch

Use a big sponge to dry the boat inside. You may put a dry towel inside

First thing is to ventilate the boat after navigation by opening the hatches.
You can remove excess water with a big sponge. This can be done just after sailing when the boat is on the beach dolly.

[Tip: the boom hook is a perfect tool to open a hatch that is hard to open]

Inspection hatches are a common area of water intake. You will be surprised by the amount of water a leaky hatch ring can let in, particularly when you consider your body weight moving around on the cockpit forcing air in and out of any leak points. Here is the diagnostic and treatment.:

Dry the boat and spray water on the hatch

This will let you know if the hatch leaks; You may put a dry towell or some paper towel below the hatch.

Or Seal the plate with duct tape and go sailing

If it's dry after, this is the hatch !

Fixing a leaking hatch: step #1

Open the hatch cover and applu some silicone grease. It can be bought in diving shops. it brings a layer of grease that's really helpfull. Your Reverso is provided with greased hatches but you may need to re-apply some more.

Fixing a leaking hatch: step #2

If it has no effect, you may replace the sealant silicone rubber as showed on this video :
