Why chosing a portable sailboat

The reasons why portable sailboats are the future of small boat sailing

1. Super-light handling
2. No trailer
3. No marina no storing fees

1. Super-light handling

The small sailboat Reverso Air is a game changer, bringing portability in dinghy sailing.
The largest section weighs less than 37 pounds. The design pitch was a small yacht allowing for solo assembly, even by a teenager or small sailor. We have many owners who used to sail larger dinghies but were stuck because the boat was too heavy to handle or launch alone.

Section 1 : 9 kgs
Section 2
: 14,2 kgs
Section 3
: 16,8 kgs
Section 4
: 17,2 kgs

Large handle included : a large suction handle is supplied with each Reverso. allowing to carry the sections with no efforts, in a fully ergonomic posture

The Portable sailboat Reverso Air is easy to launch without assistance

2. No trailer

Maintaining, storing, handling a boat trailer often brings complexity and most of small sailboats stay static at the same place.
A portable boat fits in your car, it allows you to broaden your horizons. It becomes part of your lifestyle and is a perfect excuse to plan a weekend on the coast or at a new lake. Just hit the road and sail new spots.

3 No Marina, no storing fees

If you can store a bike, you can store a Reverso

Assembly

Lightning fast & intuitive setup

Fast and easy assembly

The Reverso allows for a very quick set-up for more spontaneous rides that don't need to be planned in advance. In sports like climbing or kiteboarding, ergonomics is very advanced: it's hard to make a mistake when handling a carabiner or connecting the lines of a kite. We were inspired by these sports to design an intuitive and smart dinghy that will never make you miss a session.

No tools needed

No need to bring a toolbox: no tools are required, and there is no need to worry about losing a part in the sand : all the assembly elements are integrated and integral to the hull. We even went further and removed all the knots (only one remains, to fix the hiking strap) by replacing them with carabiners or textile shackles.

Intuitive

At boat shows, we have entrusted the assembly to children and teenagers who had never handled the Reverso before. They were the first to be surprised by the ease of assembly, without having received any instructions.

The preparation time for a Reverso is comparable to the time for rigging a windsurf board, a kite or a foil!

It is of course advisable to familiarize yourself with the assembly of the boat in a calm environment the first time, but you will see that it is not at all necessary to be a pro !

Out of the box

The ergonomics of the Reverso is designed to allow anyone to prepare his or her boat alone, without the need for outside assistance.

1 Trunk removal

The sections of the Reverso are taken out one by one and placed as close to the car as possible. The largest section weighs 17.2 kgs and a suction cup handle is provided to allow for an excellent grip. (The Reverso will then be transported to the water with its telescopic trailer. )

2 Hull assembly

The boat is shaped starting from the rear, using the lever closures.it is then stiffened with the two Tension Dynamics®.the assembly of the launch trailer is done in less than a minute by push pin assemblies.

3 Mast and sail

The mast is threaded into the sail cover, like on a laser dinghy or a windsurf. The very low weight of the mast (100% carbon, 2.95kgs) makes it easy to sail, even if the wind is strong. Just clip the boom, put the rudder and the daggerboard in the boat and you are ready to sail!

Floatability

See how portability and safety are pushed to the maximum

Each hull element floats independantly

Each hull section floats independently. Each is a closed, watertight, double-bottomed box filled with air that allows it to float.

The total volume of air inside is 240 liters. The thickness of the floor has been calculated so that the water is under the floor, even at the maximum permitted load (180 kgs).

Self-bailing Cockpit

Also, Reverso has a also self-bailing Cockpit. The deck has a slope to automatically evacuate any water that may enter the boat (waves). The water is drained in a few seconds through the large drains on the transom. There are joints between the sections, but they only serve to soften the contact between the 4 sections.

EC certification

The Reverso Air has been tested and certified by independent body ICNN under number AR A1 IMA 16157 VM, issued 09/09/16

Rigidity : Rock solid connections

Rigidity is key to portable sailboats. The Reverso Air is portable with no compromises.

1. Rigid Composite Hull
2. Tension Dynamics®
3. Dyneema® fibre technology
4. Military grade levers

1. Rigid Composite Hull

Our choice is a rigid hull - Stiffness is key: it is a guarantee of performance, safety and responsiveness and the whole behaviour of a boat.
The hull material is totally rigid, composed of 4 rigid sections, vacuum infused in glass/polyester composite with carbon reinforcements and Soric® honeycomb core technology

We can see the 2 Dyneema Tension straps along the deck (in orange)

2. Tension Dynamics®

We use 2 independent tensioning systems, lying on the deck, each side of the boat
Pre-tensioning technology derivates from architecture and is used to build bridges

We recommend to pull firmly with one hand the cascade system.
The pulling force applied is multiplied 14x thanks to the cascade.
The resulting force, thanks to the cascade transmission is more than 1300lbs/600kgs

One of the 2 Pulley systems that tension the custom made Dyneema straps

3. The Dyneema® fibre

Dyneema® fiber is 15x stronger than steel at the same weight, with a tensile strength up to 43 cN/dtex. As well as its great strength, Dyneema® excels in cut and abrasion resistance and has a high resistance to chemicals and UV.

Dyneema, known as UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) fibres are made by DSM company.

We couldn't have developped our technology without the use of this fibre.

The 4mm Dyneema® ropes used onboard the Reverso Air have a MBL (Maximum break load) of 1.6 tons

4. Military grade levers

The 6 levers make the upper link between hull sections

The military grade Reverso levers are used by the french army. They are imported from Sweden and made of 316L Stainless steel.

Transporting your portable sailboat

This is the true potential of portable sailboats : easy carry and absolute freedom.

Family sailing without compromise

Durability

A portable boat is so compact that it can be stored inside. The lifetime is incredibly extended.

Built around durability

As manufacturers we have a responsibility.

We don't want the next generations to be bothered by broken, impossible to repair toys, especially boats. See what we do for durability and discover our expertise in manufacturing.

Avoiding premature aging

Most of the time, you can't store a standard non-folding boat inside.
When a boat spends 365 days per year outside, you can't avoid UV radiation, heat, weather, dust, vandalism..

A portable sailboat avoids any of these outcomes and requires virtually zero maintenance.

The wind is calling ? Answer it !

A Reverso story

Nothing was planned. You weren't supposed to be free that day, and the weather report told a different story. The scenario only really took shape the day before, but you would have been able to react until the last moment.

A beautiful day was coming up and you took the day off. The wind is blowing from the west and the sky is clear. You could have gone climbing, gone for a bike ride or it's sometimes necessary, do nothing at all but the moments at sea are so precious. You load the equipment in the car, in an hour you will be at the seaside.

The Reverso reinvents the way of sailing. It is a boat that integrates the need for mobility, there is no more constraint between you and a beautiful session on the water. Wherever the wind blows. You take your boat as you would take your longboard, your windsurfing gear or your kitesurfing quiver. You might even be tempted to say better. You call your friends, you will find yourself on the spot. Your wife is there, she comes with you. Unless she took her Reverso before you. You liked red, she fell in love with cobalt blue and the kids liked it too. Is it Wednesday? Good, the whole family is going to go on the water. The Reverso is perfect for two.

The wind is blowing 15/18 knots. In five minutes everything is ready. You think it's impossible, watch the video of the assembly. You're a newbie ? Come on, it will take you ten minutes. The Reverso was designed with the notion of instantaneity in mind. Your "plans" can change at the last minute, for a multitude of reasons, and logistics or complexity should no longer be an obstacle to your desires.

The lines of the hull are sublime, it is a beautiful toy. Even mathematicians say that the truth is often in a beautiful equation. The Reverso is sophisticated and simple at the same time. You tuck it in, it's so light that it accelerates instantly. Water flows under the hull. You delay, it slows down, you want more, it won't saturate. You have the stick well in hand, you are on the schedule, you feel the power of the swell, the tension in the sail, the land no longer exists, the colors are beautiful, nothing compares to this feeling. The Reverso is the shortest way between you and the sea. The Reverso is a boat that has understood the spirit of gliding.

Nothing was planned. You were not supposed to be free that day. But you have a Reverso...
